A Charming One-Bedroom Apartment in Södermalm
The 1920s meets the 2020s in this charming one-bedroom apartment in the cozy Södermalm area in Stockholm. The apartment has a floor plan of only 37 square meters, but a smart layout and high ceilings make it feel much larger than that.
Light color tones, original wooden floorboards, and original wooden doors create a harmonious interior. The apartment has an open layout between the hall, kitchen, and living room, making it feel more spacious, while the bedroom is fitted with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes to maximize storage space in the small home.

The living room is a charming space with the original wooden floorboards and walls painted in Beckers Garn, a light and warm beige tone.

Glass doors open to a charming balcony, extending the living area in the warmer months of the year.

A strategically placed mirror opposite the balcony doors helps to reflect light throughout the room. The apartment has a unique layout. The right door in the living room opens to a built-in cabinet that the current owners turned into a tiny home office. The left door opens to a shower room.

The built-in cabinets are painted in a dusty pink shade and fitted with shelves painted in the same color, creating a charming cloffice (the name used for a home office in a closet).

The bedroom is painted in a calming gray-green color called ‘Mossa’ by Beckers which harmonizes perfectly with the wallpapered ceiling.

The wall is fitted with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, adding plenty of storage space to the small room.

About Södermalm – Stockholm
Södermalm (or Söder in short) is an island just south of Stockholm’s Old Town (Gamla Stan). It has transformed from an impoverished area at the beginning of the 20th century into the most trendy neighborhood in Stockholm (and one of the coolest areas in the world, according to Vogue).
What to do: Södermalm is known for its cozy cafés, restaurants, and shops (including many vintage shops such as Beyond Retro and Grandpa). The island also offers beautiful views from the city. Walk up on Mariaberget or Skinnarviksberget and snap a picture of Sweden’s most beautiful city, or go for a swim at Långholmen.
Museums: Fotografiska Museum, Stockholm City Museum
You can take a guided 2-hour tour of Södermalm to fully immerse yourself in this trendy area. And if you’re interested in the brewery history, take a guided walk that includes a beer tasting at a secret location.
Where to stay: Stockholm Stadshotell, Hotel Frantz, NoFo Hotel

The ceiling is decorated with the Rosenvinge wallpaper by Boråstapeter.

An open doorway leads to the kitchen space.

The kitchen was renovated in 2022, adding a Ballingslöv kitchen with oyster beige mirror cabinet doors and a sensate-treated natural stone countertop. The walls are painted in Beckers ‘Garn’ (same as the living room), and the joinery is painted in the slightly darker Beckers ‘Säv.’

The entry hall is decorated in the Cole & Son ‘Leopards’ wallpaper and fitted with white String shelves to store shoes and coats.
